Thomas Fitzmaurice Carroll was born on August 15, 1921, in Waterbury, Connecticut, his father, Francis, was 31 and his mother, Loretta, was 29. He had two sisters Anne and Jane.
In Rye his family lived at 39 Rosemere Street and were parishioners of the Church of the Resurrection. He was a Rye High School graduate Class of 1939. In high school he was belonged to many clubs and was a junior coach and ran track.
Thomas served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Thomas Fitzmaurice Carroll of Rye was commissioned a second lieutenant and received the silver wings of a
Pilot in the Army Air Forces at graduation ceremonies at Napier Field, Dothan,Ala. The son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Carroll, 39 Rosemere Street, Lieut. Carroll is a graduate of Rye High School and attended Arnold College.
He was a swimming instructor In New Rochelle when he entered the army service. May 6, 1942, for flying training.

Thomas served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and he participated In the Solomon Islands campaign. After the war he married Miss Randy Paul August 30, 1947 at the Olmstead Field Chapel in Middletown, PA. They would have two sons.
Thomas would continue to serve his country for 23 years, retiring a Major from the Air Force in 1963.
He was a Jet pilot and a veteran of World War II and the 1948 Berlin Airlift. During his military career Major Carroll had flown more than 15 types of military aircraft and logged 5500 flying hour without accident.
He was a graduate of Ohio State University and a member of Alpha Kappa Pal. He was an assistant professor of Air Science at the University of Cincinnati and the executive officer for the Air Force ROTC unit.
Thomas Fitzmaurice Carroll died April 5, 1986 when he was 64 years old.
